Cahoon Elementary Magnet Cougar Icon  School History
Cahoon Elementary is named in honor of Blanche M. Cahoon, who served the School District of Hillsborough County as a supervisor of art education in the 1940's.  In 1951 Cahoon Elementary was constructed in her honor.

The school's two original wings were completed in 1950, with two additional wings built in the 1960's.  Three pods were added in 1986.    Renovation was conducted in 2003, in which each classroom and building was equipped with new furniture, equipment, flooring and lighting.

In July 2006, Cahoon Elementary became Cahoon Elementary Magnet School of Animal Science, Gifted and Talent Development Academy.

Cahoon's colors are maroon and silver.  The mascot is the cougar.
