The technology program at Cahoon has grown by leaps and bounds. Currently, most classrooms have 3 HP computers and a HP color inkjet printer. In addition, most classrooms have a laser printer. These classroom computers are networked both to a School Local Area Network (LAN) as well as to the district's Wide Area Network (WAN). Teachers can access both the Internet and Email in their classroom through the district's WAN. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive Smart Board.
Every classroom has its own bundle of age appropriate software, and several titles are available through the file server. Educational CD Roms are also available for check out through the Media Center. Students in grades K-5 use the S.T.A.R. reading and assessment and participate in the Accelerated Reader program by taking tests on the computers in their classroom or in the Media Center.
A computer lab is used for student instruction, training, research, word processing and staff development. We have a state-of-art TV studio, where our in-house morning show is produced.
Every classroom is wired for closed circuit TV in order to view school-wide programs and events sponsored by the School District of Hillsborough County.
